16 And they were brought back from there to [a](A)Shechem and laid in the tomb which Abraham had purchased for a sum of money from the sons of [b]Hamor in [c]Shechem.
17 “But as the (B)time of the promise which God had assured to Abraham was approaching, (C)the people increased and multiplied in Egypt, 18 until (D)another king arose over Egypt who did not know Joseph.

17 “As the time drew near for God to fulfill his promise to Abraham, the number of our people in Egypt had greatly increased.(B) 18 Then ‘a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power in Egypt.’[a](C)
