7 But I will bring judgment on the nation that enslaved them,’ God said, ‘and after that they will come out and worship me in this place.’ 8 Then he gave him the covenant of circumcision. And so, when he became the father of Isaac, he circumcised him on the eighth day, as Isaac did for Jacob, and Jacob did for the twelve patriarchs.
9 “The patriarchs were jealous of Joseph and they sold him into Egypt, but God was with him

7 But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves,’ God said, ‘and afterward they will come out of that country and worship me in this place.’[a](A) 8 Then he gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision.(B) And Abraham became the father of Isaac and circumcised him eight days after his birth.(C) Later Isaac became the father of Jacob,(D) and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.(E)
9 “Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph,(F) they sold him as a slave into Egypt.(G) But God was with him(H)
