¹⁸ And when they had come to him, he said to them: “You know, ^(A)from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you,

¹⁴ I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise.

¹² Therefore, although I wrote to you, I did not do it for the sake of him who had done the wrong, nor for the sake of him who suffered wrong, ^(A)but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear to you.

²⁰ For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that ^(A)I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;

¹¹ I am afraid for you, ^(A)lest I have labored for you in vain.

¹⁰ night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face ^(A)and perfect what is lacking in your faith?
