Amos 8:2-4

2 And he said, (A)“Amos, what do you see?” And I said, (B)“A basket of summer fruit.” Then the Lord said to me,
(C)“The end[a] has come upon my people Israel;
I will never again pass by them.
3 (D)The songs of the temple[b] (E)shall become wailings[c] in that day,”
declares the Lord God.
(F)“So many dead bodies!”
“They are thrown everywhere!”
(G)“Silence!”
4 Hear this, (H)you who trample on the needy
and bring the poor of the land to an end,

New International Version
2 “What do you see,(A) Amos?(B)” he asked.
“A basket(C) of ripe fruit,” I answered.
Then the Lord said to me, “The time is ripe for my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.(D)
3 “In that day,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “the songs in the temple will turn to wailing.[a](E) Many, many bodies—flung everywhere! Silence!(F)”
