19 Then he shall turn back toward the fortresses of his own land, but he shall stumble and fall and shall not be found.(A)
20 “Then shall arise in his place one who shall send an official for the glory of the kingdom, but within a few days he shall be broken, though not in anger or in battle.[a](B) 21 In his place shall arise a contemptible person on whom royal majesty had not been conferred; he shall come in suddenly and seize the kingdom through intrigue.(C)

New International Version
19 After this, he will turn back toward the fortresses of his own country but will stumble and fall,(A) to be seen no more.(B)
20 “His successor will send out a tax collector to maintain the royal splendor.(C) In a few years, however, he will be destroyed, yet not in anger or in battle.
21 “He will be succeeded by a contemptible(D) person who has not been given the honor of royalty.(E) He will invade the kingdom when its people feel secure, and he will seize it through intrigue.
