⁷ Then the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the diviners came in, and I told them the dream, but they could not tell me its interpretation.^{(A) 8} At last Daniel came in before me—he who was named Belteshazzar after the name of my god and who is endowed with a spirit of the holy gods^[a]—and I told him the dream:^{(B) 9} “O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I know that you are endowed with a spirit of the holy gods^[b] and that no mystery is too difficult for you. Hear^[c] the dream that I saw, and tell me its interpretation.^(C)

⁸ In the morning his spirit was troubled, so he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh.^(A)

¹⁵ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.”^(A)

⁸ Then all the king’s wise men came in, but they could not read the writing or tell the king the interpretation.^(A)

¹⁵ Now the wise men, the enchanters, have been brought in before me to read this writing and tell me its interpretation, but they were not able to reveal the interpretation of the matter.
