Then the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the diviners came in, and I told them the dream, but they could not tell me its interpretation.(A) At last Daniel came in before me—he who was named Belteshazzar after the name of my god and who is endowed with a spirit of the holy gods[a]—and I told him the dream:(B) “O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I know that you are endowed with a spirit of the holy gods[b] and that no mystery is too difficult for you. Hear[c] the dream that I saw, and tell me its interpretation.(C)

When the magicians,(A) enchanters, astrologers[a] and diviners(B) came, I told them the dream, but they could not interpret it for me.(C) Finally, Daniel came into my presence and I told him the dream. (He is called Belteshazzar,(D) after the name of my god, and the spirit of the holy gods(E) is in him.)

I said, “Belteshazzar, chief(F) of the magicians, I know that the spirit of the holy gods(G) is in you, and no mystery is too difficult for you. Here is my dream; interpret it for me.
