29 Then, on Belshazzar’s orders,[a] Daniel was clothed in purple, a golden collar was placed around his neck, and he was proclaimed third ruler in the kingdom. 30 And that very night Belshazzar, the Babylonian king,[b] was killed.[c] 31 (6:1)[d] So Darius the Mede took control of the kingdom when he was about sixty-two years old.

29 Then at Belshazzar’s command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around his neck,(A) and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom.(B)

30 That very night Belshazzar,(C) king(D) of the Babylonians,[a] was slain,(E) 31 and Darius(F) the Mede(G) took over the kingdom, at the age of sixty-two.[b]
