Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God. Then these presidents and satraps [a]assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever. All the presidents of the kingdom, the deputies and the satraps, the counsellors and the governors, have consulted together [b]to establish a royal statute, and to make a strong interdict, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”(A)

So these administrators and satraps went as a group to the king and said: “May King Darius live forever!(B) The royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors(C) have all agreed that the king should issue an edict and enforce the decree that anyone who prays to any god or human being during the next thirty days, except to you, Your Majesty, shall be thrown into the lions’ den.(D)
