37 He shall have no regard for the gods of his ancestors or for the one in whom women delight;[a] for no god shall he have regard, because he shall make himself greater than all.

  1. 11:37 The one in whom women delight: Tammuz. Antiochus favored the cult of Zeus. Daniel takes this to imply the neglect of all other gods, although this does not appear to have been the case.
