Daniel 5:26-28
Evangelical Heritage Version
26 This is the meaning of the message:
Mene[a] means that God has counted up your kingdom and paid it out or spent it.
27 Tekel[b] means that you have been weighed in the scales, and you are too light.
28 Parsin[c] means that your kingdom has been broken in two and given to the Medes and the Persians.
Footnotes
- Daniel 5:26 Mene means “measured” or “counted” and suggests mina, a unit for weighing money.
- Daniel 5:27 Tekel means “weighed” and suggests shekel, a unit for weighing money.
- Daniel 5:28 Parsin means “divided” and suggests half shekel. It also sounds like the word “Persians.”
