¹⁶ You are to gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public square and completely burn the town^(A) and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the Lord your God.^(B) That town is to remain a ruin^(C) forever, never to be rebuilt,

²⁴ Then they burned the whole city^(A) and everything in it, but they put the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron^(B) into the treasury of the Lord’s house.^(C)

⁸ The men of Judah attacked Jerusalem^(A) also and took it. They put the city to the sword and set it on fire.

²⁵ So he showed them, and they put the city to the sword but spared^(A) the man and his whole family.

¹⁵ At Barak’s advance, the Lord routed^(A) Sisera and all his chariots and army by the sword, and Sisera got down from his chariot and fled on foot.

¹⁶ Barak pursued the chariots and army as far as Harosheth Haggoyim, and all Sisera’s troops fell by the sword; not a man was left.^(B)

³ When David and his men reached Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.^(A)

²⁹ The Babylonians who are attacking this city will come in and set it on fire; they will burn it down,^(A) along with the houses^(B) where the people aroused my anger by burning incense on the roofs to Baal and by pouring out drink offerings^(C) to other gods.^(D)

² “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Go to Zedekiah^(A) king of Judah and tell him, ‘This is what the Lord says: I am about to give this city into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it down.^(B)
