The Voice
13 Moses: 1-2 Suppose someone who claims to be a prophet, or to have inspired dreams, stands up and tells all of you that some unusual, significant sign or wonder is going to happen, and also says, “I’m here to let you know about some other gods you should be worshiping.” What if the thing that person has predicted actually happens? 3 Don’t listen to what that prophet or dreamer says! The Eternal your God is testing you to see whether you really do love Him completely, with your whole heart and soul. 4 Remain loyal to Him! Fear Him and obey His commands. Listen to His voice. Worship Him alone. Be fervently devoted to Him.

2 and if the sign(A) or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, “Let us follow other gods”(B) (gods you have not known) “and let us worship them,” 3 you must not listen to the words of that prophet(C) or dreamer.(D) The Lord your God is testing(E) you to find out whether you love(F) him with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 It is the Lord your God you must follow,(G) and him you must revere.(H) Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast(I) to him.
