(A)If your brother, your mother’s son, or your son or daughter, or the wife [a]you cherish, or your friend who is like your own soul, entices you secretly, saying, ‘(B)Let’s go and serve other gods’ (whom neither you nor your fathers have known, of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near you, or far from you, from one end of the earth to the other end), (C)you shall not consent to him or listen to him; (D)and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare or conceal him. (E)Instead, you shall most certainly kill him; (F)your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. 10 So you shall stone him [b]to death, because he has attempted (G)to drive you away from the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of [c]slavery. 11 Then (H)all Israel will hear about it and be afraid, and will not do such a wicked thing among you again.

If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices(A) you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods”(B) (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), do not yield(C) to them or listen to them. Show them no pity.(D) Do not spare them or shield them. You must certainly put them to death.(E) Your hand(F) must be the first in putting them to death, and then the hands of all the people. 10 Stone them to death, because they tried to turn you away(G) from the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 11 Then all Israel will hear and be afraid,(H) and no one among you will do such an evil thing again.

If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;

Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;

Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:

But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

11 And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.
