¹⁶ “Fathers are not to be put to death for their children or children for their fathers; each person will be put to death for his own sin.^(A)

³⁰ Rather, each will die for his own wrongdoing.^(A) Anyone who eats sour grapes—his own teeth will be set on edge.

⁴ Look, every life belongs to Me.^(A) The life of the father is like the life of the son—both belong to Me. The person who sins is the one who will die.^(B)

²⁰ The person who sins is the one who will die.^(A) A son won’t suffer punishment for the father’s iniquity, and a father won’t suffer punishment for the son’s iniquity.^(B) The righteousness of the righteous person will be on him,^(C) and the wickedness of the wicked person will be on him.^(D)
