25 And the answer will be: “It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt.(A) 26 They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them.

35 but they mingled(A) with the nations
    and adopted their customs.
36 They worshiped their idols,(B)
    which became a snare(C) to them.
37 They sacrificed their sons(D)
    and their daughters to false gods.(E)
38 They shed innocent blood,
    the blood of their sons(F) and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
    and the land was desecrated by their blood.
39 They defiled themselves(G) by what they did;
    by their deeds they prostituted(H) themselves.

40 Therefore the Lord was angry(I) with his people
    and abhorred his inheritance.(J)
41 He gave them into the hands(K) of the nations,
    and their foes ruled over them.
42 Their enemies oppressed(L) them
    and subjected them to their power.
43 Many times he delivered them,(M)
    but they were bent on rebellion(N)
    and they wasted away in their sin.

43 Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
