Deuteronomy 32:25-27

25 The sword shall [a]kill them without, and in the chambers fear: both the young man and the young woman, the suckling with the man of gray hair.
26 I have said, I would scatter them abroad: I would make their remembrance to cease from among men,
27 Save that I feared the fury of the enemy, lest their adversaries should [b]wax proud, and lest they should say, Our high hand and not the Lord hath done all this.

New International Version
25 In the street the sword will make them childless;
in their homes terror(A) will reign.(B)
The young men and young women will perish,
the infants and those with gray hair.(C)
26 I said I would scatter(D) them
and erase their name from human memory,(E)
27 but I dreaded the taunt of the enemy,
lest the adversary misunderstand(F)
and say, ‘Our hand has triumphed;
the Lord has not done all this.’”(G)
