^35 (A)Vengeance is Mine, and retribution;
^(B)In due time their foot will slip.
^(C)For the day of their disaster is near,
And the impending things are hurrying to them.’
^36 (D)For the Lord will vindicate His people,
^(E)And will have compassion on His servants,
When He sees that their ^[a]strength is gone,
And there is none remaining, bond or free.

²⁰ Then I will ^(A)make you to this people
A fortified wall of bronze;
And though they fight against you,
They will not prevail over you;
For ^(B)I am with you to save you
And rescue you,” declares the Lord.

¹⁸ Let those who persecute me be ^(A)put to shame, but as for me, ^(B)let me not be put to shame;
Let them be dismayed, but let me not be dismayed.
^(C)Bring on them a day of disaster,
And crush them with double destruction!
