40 Indeed, (A)I raise My hand to heaven,
And say, as I live forever,
41 (B)If I have sharpened [a]My flashing sword,
And My hand has taken hold of justice,
(C)I will return vengeance on My adversaries,
And I will repay those who hate Me.
42 (D)I will make My arrows drunk with blood,
(E)And My sword will devour flesh,
With the blood of the slain and the captives,
From the long-haired [b]leaders of the enemy.’
