the blood of the slain and the captives,
    the heads of the enemy leaders.”

⁸ “Assyria^(A) will fall by no human sword;
    a sword, not of mortals, will devour^(B) them.
They will flee before the sword
    and their young men will be put to forced labor.^(C)

¹² Over all the barren heights in the desert
    destroyers will swarm,
for the sword^(A) of the Lord^(B) will devour^(C)
    from one end of the land to the other;^(D)
    no one will be safe.^(E)
