Israel Urged to Obey God’s Law

4 “Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which ^(A)I am teaching you to perform, so that ^(B)you will live and go in and take possession of the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you.

^40 (A)So you shall keep His statutes and His commandments which I am ^[a]giving you today, so that ^(B)it may go well for you and for your children after you, and ^(C)that you may ^[b]live long on the land which the Lord your God is giving you for all time.”

²⁵ You shall not eat it, so that ^(A)it may go well for you and your sons after you, since ^(B)you will be doing what is right in the sight of the Lord.

²⁸ “Be careful and listen to all these words which I am commanding you, so that ^(A)it may go well for you and your sons after you forever, for you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God.

⁷ you shall certainly let the mother go, but the young you may take for yourself, ^(A)in order that it may go well for you and that you may prolong your days.
