Deuteronomy 5:32-6:3

New International Version

³²So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you;^(A) do not turn aside to the right or to the left.^(B) ³³Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you,^(C) so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days^(D) in the land that you will possess.

Love the Lord Your God

6 These are the commands, decrees and laws the Lord your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, ²so that you, your children and their children after them may fear^(E) the Lord your God as long as you live^(F) by keeping all his decrees and commands^(G) that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.^(H) ³Hear, Israel, and be careful to obey^(I) so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly^(J) in a land flowing with milk and honey,^(K) just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised^(L) you.

2 Samuel 7:12-16

New International Version

¹²When your days are over and you rest^(A) with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood,^(B) and I will establish his kingdom.^(C) ¹³He is the one who will build a house^(D) for my Name,^(E) and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.^(F) ¹⁴I will be his father, and he will be my son.^(G) When he does wrong, I will punish him^(H) with a rod^(I) wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. ¹⁵But my love will never be taken away from him,^(J) as I took it away from Saul,^(K) whom I removed from before you. ¹⁶Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me^[a]; your throne^(L) will be established^(M) forever.^(N)’”

    a sure oath he will not revoke:
“One of your own descendants^(B)
    I will place on your throne.

    and the statutes I teach them,
then their sons will sit
    on your throne^(D) for ever and ever.”

¹³For the Lord has chosen Zion,^(E)
    he has desired it for his dwelling,^(F) saying,
¹⁴“This is my resting place for ever and ever;^(G)
    here I will sit enthroned,^(H) for I have desired it.
¹⁵I will bless her with abundant provisions;
