^23 (A)his corpse shall not hang all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him on the same day (for ^(B)he who is hanged is ^[a]accursed of God), so that you ^(C)do not defile your land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance.

¹⁴ “They will set apart men who will constantly pass through the land, ^(A)burying those who were passing through, even those left on the surface of the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make a search.

¹⁶ And even the name of the city will be Hamonah. So they will cleanse the land.”’
