9 And they will say, ‘Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and adopted other gods and worshiped them and served them, therefore the Lord has brought all this adversity on them.’”
35 But they mingled with the nations And learned their [a]practices, 36 And served their idols, Which became a snare to them. 37 They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons, 38 And shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and their daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with the blood. 39 Thus they became unclean in their [b]practices, And played the harlot in their deeds.
40 Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against His people And He abhorred His [c]inheritance. 41 Then He gave them into the hand of the [d]nations, And those who hated them ruled over them.
7 “Why should I pardon you? Your sons have forsaken Me And sworn by those who are not gods. When I had fed them to the full, They committed adultery And trooped to the harlot’s house. 8 “They were well-fed lusty horses, Each one neighing after his neighbor’s wife. 9 “Shall I not punish [a]these people,” declares the Lord, “And on a nation such as this Shall I not avenge Myself?
2 They will spread them out to the sun, the moon and to all the host of heaven, which they have loved and which they have served, and which they have gone after and which they have sought, and which they have worshiped. They will not be gathered or buried; they will be as dung on the face of the ground.
3 For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, [a]having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and [b]abominable idolatries.
