¹⁹ But your wives, young children, and livestock—I know that you have a lot of livestock—will remain in the cities I have given you ²⁰ until the Lord gives rest to your brothers as He has to you, and they also take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving them across the Jordan. Then each of you may return to his possession that I have given you.^(A)

⁸ “You are not to do as we are doing here today; everyone is doing whatever seems right in his own eyes. ⁹ Indeed, you have not yet come into the resting place^(A) and the inheritance^(B) the Lord your God is giving you. ¹⁰ When you cross the Jordan and live in the land the Lord your God is giving you to inherit,^(C) and He gives you rest from all the enemies around you and you live in security,
