⁹ Unless the Lord Almighty
    had left us some survivors,^(A)
we would have become like Sodom,
    we would have been like Gomorrah.^(B)

¹² He will raise a banner^(A) for the nations
    and gather^(B) the exiles of Israel;^(C)
he will assemble the scattered people^(D) of Judah
    from the four quarters of the earth.^(E)

⁶ Yet some gleanings will remain,^(A)
    as when an olive tree is beaten,^(B)
leaving two or three olives on the topmost branches,
    four or five on the fruitful boughs,”
declares the Lord, the God of Israel.
