3 Yea also, when the fool walketh by the way, his [a]understanding faileth him, and he saith [b]to every one that he is a fool. 4 If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for [c]gentleness allayeth great offences. 5 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as it were an error which proceedeth from the ruler:

3 Even as fools walk along the road,
they lack sense
and show everyone(A) how stupid they are.
4 If a ruler’s anger rises against you,
do not leave your post;(B)
calmness can lay great offenses to rest.(C)
5 There is an evil I have seen under the sun,
