Ecclesiastes 12:7-9

⁷Our bodies go back into the ground as dust.
The breath of our life goes back to God,
who gave it to us.^[a]

⁸So I, the Teacher, say,

‘All these things have no purpose.
We cannot understand why they happen.’

⁹The Teacher was wise man. He also taught the people to understand things. He studied many proverbs and he wrote them down carefully.

Ecclesiastes 12:7-9

⁷and the dust returns^(A) to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God^(B) who gave it.^(C)

⁸“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher.^[a]^(D)
“Everything is meaningless!^(E)”

⁹Not only was the Teacher wise, but he also imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs.^(F)
