Ecclesiastes 7:22-24

^21-22Don’t eavesdrop! You may hear your servant cursing you! For you know how often you yourself curse others!

²³I have tried my best to be wise. I declared, “I will be wise,” but it didn’t work. ²⁴Wisdom is far away and very difficult to find.

²²for you know in your heart
that many times you yourself have cursed others.

²³All this I tested by wisdom and I said,

“I am determined to be wise”^(A)—
but this was beyond me.
²⁴Whatever exists is far off and most profound—
who can discover it?^(B)
