3 [namely, that] the mystery[a] was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly earlier.(A) 4 When you read this you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to human beings in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit,(B) 6 that the Gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body, and copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.(C)
7 Of this I became a minister by the gift of God’s grace that was granted me in accord with the exercise of his power.(D) 8 To me, the very least of all the holy ones, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the inscrutable riches of Christ,(E) 9 and to bring to light [for all][b] what is the plan of the mystery hidden from ages past in God who created all things,(F) 10 so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the principalities and authorities[c] in the heavens.(G) 11 This was according to the eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,

- 3:9 [For all]: while some think this phrase was added so as to yield the sense “to enlighten all about the plan…,” it is more likely that some manuscripts and Fathers omitted it accidentally or to avoid the idea that all conflicted with Paul’s assignment to preach to the Gentiles (Eph 3:8) specifically.

3 that is, the mystery(A) made known to me by revelation,(B) as I have already written briefly. 4 In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight(C) into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.(D) 6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs(E) together with Israel, members together of one body,(F) and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.(G)
7 I became a servant of this gospel(H) by the gift of God’s grace given me(I) through the working of his power.(J) 8 Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people,(K) this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles(L) the boundless riches of Christ,(M) 9 and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery,(N) which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God(O) should be made known(P) to the rulers and authorities(Q) in the heavenly realms,(R) 11 according to his eternal purpose(S) that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.
