4 Let there be no filthiness, nor silly talk, nor levity, which are not fitting; but instead let there be thanksgiving. 5 Be sure of this, that no immoral or impure man, or one who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is because of these things that the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk(A) or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.(B) 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater(C)—has any inheritance(D) in the kingdom of Christ and of God.[a](E) 6 Let no one deceive you(F) with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath(G) comes on those who are disobedient.(H)
