Moses then said to the king, “The Lord says, ‘At about midnight I will go through Egypt, and every first-born son in Egypt will die, from the king's son, who is heir to the throne, to the son of the slave woman who grinds grain. The first-born of all the cattle will die also. There will be loud crying all over Egypt, such as there has never been before or ever will be again.

So Moses said, “This is what the Lord says: ‘About midnight(A) I will go throughout Egypt.(B) Every firstborn(C) son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill,(D) and all the firstborn of the cattle as well. There will be loud wailing(E) throughout Egypt—worse than there has ever been or ever will be again.
