19 Then (A)the angel of God, who had been going before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them. 20 So it came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud [a]along with the darkness, yet it gave light at night. Therefore the one did not approach the other all night.

21 (B)Then Moses reached out with his hand over the sea; and the Lord [b]swept the sea back by a strong east wind all night, and turned the sea into (C)dry land, and (D)the waters were divided.

19 Then the angel of God,(A) who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud(B) also moved from in front and stood behind(C) them, 20 coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness(D) to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.
