20 But they didn’t listen to Moses. A few of the men kept back some of it until morning. It got wormy and smelled bad. And Moses lost his temper with them.

21-22 They gathered it every morning, each person according to need. Then the sun heated up and it melted. On the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, about four quarts per person.

Then the leaders of the company came to Moses and reported.

20 However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell.(A) So Moses was angry(B) with them.

21 Each morning everyone gathered as much as they needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away. 22 On the sixth day, they gathered twice(C) as much—two omers[a] for each person—and the leaders of the community(D) came and reported this to Moses.
