³ The sons of Israel said to them, “^(A)If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in the land of Egypt, ^(B)when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread until we were full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this entire assembly with hunger!”

⁴ Now the ^(A)rabble who were among them ^[a]had greedy cravings; and the sons of Israel also wept again and said, “^(B)Who will give us ^[b]meat to eat?

^3 (A)Then the people argued with Moses and spoke, saying, “^(B)If only we had perished ^(C)when our brothers perished before the Lord!

⁵ So the people spoke against God and Moses: “^(A)Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no ^[a]food and no water, and ^[b](B)we are disgusted with ^[c]this miserable food.”
