⁴ Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, ^(A)I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may ^(B)test them, whether or not they will walk in My ^[a]law.

^2 (A)And you shall remember all the way which Yahweh your God has ^(B)led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, ^(C)testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

¹⁶ In the wilderness He fed you manna ^(A)which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might ^(B)test you, to do good for you ^[a]in the end,

²² in order to ^(A)test Israel by them, whether they will keep the way of Yahweh to walk in it as their fathers ^[a]did, or not.”

Yahweh Tests Israel

3 ^(A)Now these are the nations which Yahweh allowed to remain, to test Israel by them (that is, all who had not known any of the wars of Canaan;

⁴ And they were for ^[a](A)testing Israel, to know if they would ^[b]obey the commandments of Yahweh, which He had commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
