¹⁵ When Pharaoh heard about this, he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in the land of Midian,^(A) and sat down by a well.^(B)

²² She gave birth to a son whom he named Gershom, for he said, “I have been a foreigner^(A) in a foreign land.”^[a]

³ along with her two sons, one of whom was named Gershom (because Moses had said, “I have been a foreigner in a foreign land”)^{[a](A) 4} and the other Eliezer (because he had said, “The God of my father was my helper and delivered me from Pharaoh’s sword”).^[b]
