22 She gave birth to a son, and he called his name (A)Gershom, for he said, “I have been a (B)sojourner[a] in a foreign land.”
God Hears Israel's Groaning
23 (C)During those many days the king of Egypt died, and the people of Israel (D)groaned because of their slavery and cried out for help. (E)Their cry for rescue from slavery came up to God. 24 And (F)God heard their groaning, and God (G)remembered his covenant with (H)Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

22 Zipporah gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom,[a](A) saying, “I have become a foreigner(B) in a foreign land.”
