Exodus 2:9-11

9 Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child and nurse him for me, and I will pay your wages.” So the woman took the boy and nursed him. 10 When the child grew older, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses,[a] “Because,” she said, “I drew him out of the water.”

11 Years later,[b] after Moses had grown up, he went out to his own people[c] and observed their forced labor.(A) He saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his people.

New International Version
9 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.” So the woman took the baby and nursed him. 10 When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named(A) him Moses,[a] saying, “I drew(B) him out of the water.”

11 One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people(C) were and watched them at their hard labor.(D) He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people.
