²⁰ Moses said to the people, “^(A)Do not be afraid; for God has come in order ^(B)to test you, and in order that ^(C)the fear of Him may ^[a]remain with you, so that you may not sin.”

^2 (A)You shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has ^(B)led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, ^(C)testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

¹⁶ In the wilderness He fed you manna ^(A)which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might ^(B)test you, to do good for you ^[a]in the end.

¹⁹ For there ^(A)must also be factions among you, ^(B)so that those who are approved may become ^[a]evident among you.
