^24 (A)You shall not worship their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their deeds; ^(B)but you shall utterly overthrow them and break their ^(C)sacred pillars in pieces.

Blessings of Obedience

26 ‘You shall not make for yourselves ^[a](A)idols, nor shall you set up for yourselves ^(B)an image or ^(C)a sacred pillar, nor shall you place a ^(D)figured stone in your land to bow down ^[b]to it; for I am the Lord your God.

⁵ But thus you shall do to them: ^(A)you shall tear down their altars, and smash their sacred pillars, and hew down their ^[a]Asherim, and burn their graven images with fire.

^3 (A)You shall tear down their altars and smash their sacred pillars and burn their ^[a]Asherim with fire, and you shall cut down the engraved images of their gods and ^(B)obliterate their name from that place.

³⁰ beware that you are not ensnared ^[a]to follow them, after they are destroyed before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How do these nations serve their gods, that I also may do likewise?’
