²⁷ I will send my ^[a]fear before thee, and will destroy all the people among whom thou shalt go: and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee:

¹¹ And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho, and the ^[a]men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, and I delivered them into your hand.

²² And the Lord thy God will root out these nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the ^[a]beasts of the field increase upon thee.
