¹⁶ In the ark you are to put the covenant which I will give you.

Radiance of Moses’ Face. ²⁷ Then the Lord said to Moses: Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel. ²⁸ So Moses was there with the Lord for forty days and forty nights,^(A) without eating any food or drinking any water, and he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten words.

⁵ Then I turned and came down from the mountain, and placed the tablets in the ark I had made.^(A) There they have remained, as the Lord commanded me.

⁴ in which were the gold altar of incense^[a] and the ark of the covenant entirely covered with gold. In it were the gold jar containing the manna, the staff of Aaron that had sprouted, and the tablets of the covenant.^(A)
