Behind (A)the second veil there was a [a]tabernacle which is called the (B)Most Holy Place, having a golden [b](C)altar of incense and (D)the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was (E)a golden jar holding the manna, (F)Aaron’s staff which budded, and (G)the tablets of the covenant; and above it were the (H)cherubim of glory (I)overshadowing the [c]atoning cover; but about these things we cannot now speak in detail.

Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests (J)are continually entering the [d]outer [e]tabernacle, performing the divine worship, but into (K)the second, only (L)the high priest enters (M)once a year, (N)not without taking blood which he (O)offers for himself and for the [f](P)sins of the people committed in ignorance. Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place,(A) which had the golden altar of incense(B) and the gold-covered ark of the covenant.(C) This ark contained the gold jar of manna,(D) Aaron’s staff that had budded,(E) and the stone tablets of the covenant.(F) Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory,(G) overshadowing the atonement cover.(H) But we cannot discuss these things in detail now.

When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly(I) into the outer room to carry on their ministry. But only the high priest entered(J) the inner room,(K) and that only once a year,(L) and never without blood,(M) which he offered for himself(N) and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.(O) The Holy Spirit was showing(P) by this that the way(Q) into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still functioning.
