5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. 6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. 7 And Jehovah said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people that are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

5 “Do not come any closer,”(A) God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”(B) 6 Then he said, “I am the God of your father,[a] the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.”(C) At this, Moses hid(D) his face, because he was afraid to look at God.(E)
7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen(F) the misery(G) of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned(H) about their suffering.(I)
