For the place where you are standing is holy ground.” 6 He said also, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face. For he was afraid to look at God. 7 The Lord said, “I have seen the suffering of My people in Egypt. I have heard their cry because of the men who make them work. I know how they suffer.

5 “Do not come any closer,”(A) God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”(B) 6 Then he said, “I am the God of your father,[a] the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.”(C) At this, Moses hid(D) his face, because he was afraid to look at God.(E)
7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen(F) the misery(G) of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned(H) about their suffering.(I)
