^12 (A)“When you take the census of the children of Israel for their number, then every man shall give ^(B)a^[a] ransom for himself to the Lord, when you number them, that there may be no ^(C)plague among them when you number them.

^2 (A)“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel ^(B)from twenty years old and above, by their fathers’ houses, all who are able to go to war in Israel.”

⁶³ These are those who were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel ^(A)in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho.

^64 (A)But among these there was not a man of those who were numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest when they numbered the children of Israel in the ^(B)Wilderness of Sinai.

² So the king said to Joab the commander of the army who was with him, “Now go throughout all the tribes of Israel, ^(A)from Dan to Beersheba, and count the people, that ^(B)I may know the number of the people.”

² So David said to Joab and to the leaders of the people, “Go, number Israel from Beersheba to Dan, ^(A)and bring the number of them to me that I may know it.”
