Exodus 4:22-24
Expanded Bible
22 Then say to ·the king [L Pharaoh], ‘·This is what [Thus] the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son [C the privileged child]. 23 I told you to let my son go so he may ·worship [serve] me. But you refused to let Israel go, so I will kill your firstborn son [11:1–10].’”
24 ·As Moses was on his way to Egypt [L On the way], he stopped at a resting place for the night. The Lord met him there and tried to kill him.

New International Version
22 Then say to Pharaoh, ‘This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son,(A) 23 and I told you, “Let my son go,(B) so he may worship(C) me.” But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.’”(D)
24 At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses[a] and was about to kill(E) him.
