²⁸ And Pharaoh said, “^(A)I will let you go, that you may sacrifice to Yahweh your God in the wilderness; only you shall not go very far away. ^(B)Entreat for me.”

⁸ So the sons of Israel said to Samuel, “^(A)Do not cease to cry out to Yahweh our God for us, that He may save us from the hand of the Philistines.”

¹⁹ Then all the people said to Samuel, “^(A)Pray for your servants to Yahweh your God, so that we may not die, for we have added to all our sins ^(B)this evil by asking for ourselves a king.”

⁶ Then the king answered and said to the man of God, “Please ^[a](A)entreat Yahweh your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me.” So ^(B)the man of God ^[b]entreated Yahweh, and the king’s hand was restored to him, and it became as it was before.

⁴ Perhaps Yahweh your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to ^[a](A)reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which Yahweh your God has heard. Therefore, lift up a prayer for ^(B)the remnant that is left.’”

³ Yet ^(A)King Zedekiah sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and ^(B)Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “^(C)Please pray to Yahweh our God on our behalf.”

²⁰ For you have only ^[a](A)led yourselves astray; for it is you who sent me to Yahweh your God, saying, “Pray for us to Yahweh our God; and according to all that Yahweh our God says, tell us so, and we will do it.”

²⁴ But Simon answered and said, “^(A)Pray earnestly to the Lord for me yourselves, so that nothing of what you have said may come upon me.”

¹⁶ Therefore, ^(A)confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be ^(B)healed. ^(C)The effective ^[a]prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
