¹¹ Therefore they set taskmasters over them ^(A)to afflict them with heavy ^(B)burdens. They built for Pharaoh ^(C)store cities, Pithom and ^(D)Raamses. ¹² But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and the more they spread abroad. And the Egyptians were in dread of the people of Israel.

⁷ Then the Lord said, ^(A)“I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their ^(B)taskmasters. I know their sufferings,
