⁴ Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, ^(A)I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, so that I may ^(B)test them, whether or not they will walk in My ^[a]instruction.

¹⁵ When the sons of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “^[a]What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “^(A)It is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat.

²¹ They gathered it morning by morning, everyone ^[a]as much as he would eat; but when the sun became hot, it would melt.

⁸ The people would roam about and gather it and grind it ^[a]between two millstones, or pound it in the mortar, and boil it in the pot and make loaves with it; and its taste was like the taste of ^[b]cake baked with oil.

^49 (A)Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.

⁵⁸ This is the bread that ^(A)came down out of heaven, not as ^(B)the fathers ate and died; the one who eats this bread ^(C)will live forever.”
